Kicking ass took on a whole new meaning in New
York for Briton Mark McGowan. The performance artist
is seen crawling across Manhattan in a President
Bush mask with an invitation to passers-by to put
the boot in.
McGowan said he was "offering the people of
America, New York and visitors a kind of therapeutic
engagement". "Hopefully people will be
able to come and kick me as hard as they like, and
gain some comfort in the fact that they can say
I kicked George in the ass," he added.
McGowan's self-imposed non-stop ordeal took 72 hours
and he covered 36 miles. One of the most controversial
performance artists of the UK, McGowan once ate
a swan in a protest against the monarchy, the rich
and the upper classes..
